Charbotel completed France’s opening-day double in challenging Narvik conditions.
Source publication date:
Emy Charbonnier won the opening women’s super-G at the Alpine Junior World Championships in Narvik in 47.96 seconds. American Logan Grosdidier finished second in 48.37 and Austria’s Pia Hauzenberger third in 48.48 after the preceding downhill programme was cancelled because of bad weather.
Charbonnier then joined Ilona Charbotel for team combined gold. Charbotel’s 40.80-second slalom run brought their total to 1:28.76, holding off Italy’s Ludovica Righi and Anna Trocker by 0.38 seconds in a competition affected by changing snow and rain.
Hauzenberger and Leonie Raich earned Austria the combined bronze, another 0.14 behind Italy. Charbonnier’s two titles marked a major improvement on her previous junior championship appearances, where she had finished fifteenth and eighteenth in the individual super-G.
