China and Indonesia sweep men’s Asian team openers
Chinese Taipei won a deciding tie while Japan recovered against Singapore in Qingdao.

China and Indonesia opened the men’s Badminton Asia Team Championships with 5-0 victories. The defending champions defeated Macau in Group A, while three-time title winners Indonesia swept Myanmar in Group D at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium as the continental competition began.
China collected all three singles and both doubles points. Indonesia also controlled its opening tie, with Pradishka Bagas Shujiwo, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Richie Duta Richardo securing the singles results before the doubles teams completed the sweep.
Chinese Taipei beat Hong Kong 3-2 after Chi Yu Jen won the deciding singles match. Japan recovered from Loh Kean Yew’s opening victory for Singapore to take the remaining matches and win 4-1.
