Ben Davies was set to receive a golden cap recognising one hundred appearances for Wales before the World Cup play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Football Association of Wales announced that Cliff Jones, the final surviving member of the 1958 World Cup squad, would present the honour.

Davies reached the century against Belgium in October and was due to attend the Cardiff presentation despite a recent injury. He made his senior Wales debut against Scotland in 2012 and subsequently played at two European Championships and a World Cup.

Ninety-one-year-old Jones earned fifty-nine Wales caps and scored sixteen goals, including five appearances at the country's first World Cup. Both players' club careers began at Swansea City before moves to Tottenham. Supporters were asked to take their seats early for the recognition.
