Maria Emma Gaviria received a lifetime achievement award from the Colombian Olympic Committee at the Altius Awards in Bogotá on January 22. World Archery reported the honour for its executive board member and the president of World Archery Americas.

Gaviria led the founding of Colombia’s current independent archery federation in 2001. She served as national president until 2013 and returned to that role in 2017, helping expand the sport’s infrastructure, participation and development activity in the country.

She first became president of World Archery Americas in 2014 and has served on the global executive board since 2013, including as vice-president. The Colombian award follows a silver plaquette presented at the 2025 World Archery Congress for her longstanding service.
