Cotton misses Adelaide’s final league road game with back soreness
Blake Jones entered the lineup while the 36ers assessed their star before the Ignite Cup final.
Source publication date:
Adelaide announced that Bryce Cotton would miss its regular-season finale in Perth because of back soreness. The club confirmed the guard’s absence on Friday and named nominated injury replacement Blake Jones to suit up against the Wildcats.
The 36ers had already secured a top-two position and a place in the playoff series following South East Melbourne’s defeat by Melbourne United. Cotton’s absence therefore came with Adelaide’s direct postseason qualification assured before the road fixture began.
The club hoped its leading player would be available for the Ignite Cup final against New Zealand on Sunday. His immediate schedule placed the Perth visit and Gold Coast final close together, leaving Adelaide to assess availability for the trophy match after keeping him out of the league game.
