Crippa lowers Italian half-marathon record to 59:01
The Naples victory improved his national mark by twenty-five seconds.
Source publication date:
Yeman Crippa won the Naples Half Marathon in 59:01, improving his Italian record by twenty-five seconds. The performance replaced the 59:26 he had run on the same course in 2022 and moved him to second on Europe’s all-time list.
Only Andreas Almgren’s 58:41 remained faster among European runners at the time of FIDAL’s report. Crippa also passed Julien Wanders’s 59:13 benchmark, adding a new achievement to his European half-marathon and track championship titles.
The twenty-nine-year-old described the result as a reward for persistence after a difficult previous season. Training under Massimo Pegoretti, he was working towards a spring marathon, and credited the favourable conditions and support along the Naples course for helping his record attempt.
