Source publication date:
Czechia reached the Olympic men’s quarter-finals with a 3–2 victory over Denmark. Captain Roman Cervenka scored the winning goal during the second period, while Martin Necas contributed two points in a qualification-playoff contest that stayed close through the finish.
The opening period was cautious as both teams limited risks. Czechia later established a 3–1 advantage, but penalties gave Denmark opportunities to recover. Nick Olesen scored his fourth goal in four Olympic games, placing him among the tournament’s leading scorers.
Frederik Andersen made twenty-nine saves for Denmark, which entered the third period only one goal behind and still created chances to equalise. Czechia preserved its lead to advance to a quarter-final against Canada, with Cervenka acknowledging that his side could have controlled the advantage more effectively.
