Daily Mile recruits ambassadors in Wicklow and Kildare
Club volunteers were invited to help primary schools establish inclusive daily activity.
Source publication date:
Athletics Ireland and The Daily Mile invited club members in Wicklow and Kildare to volunteer as local school ambassadors. The initiative was organised with the two counties’ Local Sports Partnerships to help primary schools introduce regular physical activity.
The role involved an estimated two to four hours each month, helping schools get started and sharing local experiences. Organisers emphasised an inclusive approach that allowed every child to participate, with volunteers acting as community contacts for interested schools.
Ambassadors were offered training, continuing support, branded resources and recognition for their contribution. Agreed travel and subsistence expenses could be reimbursed. The federation directed interested volunteers to its expression-of-interest form and published a description of the responsibilities involved.
