David Sesay’s late goal gives Maidstone win at Salisbury
The substitute settled a close contest after an earlier penalty save.
Source publication date:
Maidstone United won 1–0 at Salisbury after substitute David Sesay scored in the 83rd minute. Jephte Tanga supplied the decisive pass, allowing Sesay to finish from close range and finally beat home goalkeeper William Buse.
Buse had earlier saved Muhammadu Faal's penalty after Jamie Yila was brought down. The keeper also denied Yila, George Fowler and Tanga as Maidstone repeatedly searched for a breakthrough during a match with fewer opportunities than their previous outing.
Salisbury threatened through George Penn early in the second half, but could not find a goal. Maidstone's persistence was rewarded by Sesay, who had replaced Yila, and the visitors held their advantage through the final stages to secure three points.
