Lorenza De Noni improved Italy’s under-23 indoor 800m best to 2:02.48 at a meeting in Louvain-la-Neuve. The performance replaced Fabia Trabaldo’s 2:03.29 mark from Genoa in February 1992, ending a thirty-four-year wait for an improvement.

The twenty-year-old Fiamme Azzurre runner finished third in her race and fifth across the meeting’s heats. Her new time also placed her sixth on Italy’s senior indoor all-time list, following earlier winter appearances in Spain and Belgium.

De Noni had won European under-20 bronze in Tampere the previous summer and reached the 2024 World Under-20 final. FIDAL highlighted her progression from a 2:03.93 seasonal debut to the new youth record while remaining one second outside her outdoor personal best.
