Romane Dicko won the women’s over-78kg gold medal at the Paris Grand Slam in an all-French final against Julia Tolofua. Both athletes attacked during an open contest, but Tolofua’s supporting leg gave way during an exchange and she conceded the bout.
Dicko immediately went to assist her teammate after the injury ended the contest. The result completed the women’s programme in the Accor Arena with gold and silver for the host nation, which also had two athletes contesting one of the bronze medals.
Lea Fontaine won that French bronze match against Celia Cancan through penalties. Japan’s Mao Arai collected the second bronze by defeating Korea’s Hyeonji Lee in golden score, using a seoi-otoshi for waza-ari approximately a minute into the additional period.
