Doualla advances on senior world debut as Coiro improves again
Italy’s sixteen-year-old sprinter reaches the semifinals while its 800m runner narrowly misses the final.

Kelly Doualla advanced from the 60m heats on her senior World Championships debut in Torun. At sixteen years and 121 days, Italy’s youngest participant in the competition finished third in her heat in 7.27, racing alongside Olympic champion Julien Alfred.
Zaynab Dosso won her heat in 7.07, sharing the third-fastest time of the round. Alfred and Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston led the qualifying times at 7.06. Lorenzo Simonelli also progressed in the 60m hurdles with 7.65.
Eloisa Coiro improved her indoor 800m best to 1:59.33 in the semifinals, eight hundredths outside Elisa Cusma’s Italian record. With only the first two advancing from each race, Coiro missed the final despite recording the fourth-fastest semifinal time.
