Armand Duplantis set a pole-vault world record of 6.31 metres at the Mondo Classic in Uppsala. The Swedish champion added one centimetre to the mark he established at the Tokyo World Championships, achieving the fifteenth world record of his career.

Duplantis completed just four jumps without an error, clearing 5.65, 5.90, 6.08 and then 6.31 metres. He passed six metres, a height Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen cleared to finish second at the World Indoor Tour Silver meeting.

Emmanouil Karalis, who had led the season with 6.17, finished seventh on 5.80 after three misses at six metres. It was Duplantis’s second world record on Swedish soil and his first in an indoor venue there.
