EHF establishes a Players’ Board to expand athlete representation
Five elected players will join a new stakeholder structure beginning in summer.
Source publication date:
The EHF Executive Committee approved a new Players’ Board at its meeting in Herning. The body will begin in summer and consist of two male players, two female players and a fifth representative of either sex, strengthening athlete participation in federation structures.
National federations will nominate candidates, and players will vote for the representatives. Eligibility requires participation in at least one European Championship. The EHF also plans to propose that the board’s chair receive a seat on the Executive Committee through a Congress motion.
Players will gain representation on both the Professional Handball Board and Women’s Handball Board. Continued cooperation with the European Handball Players’ Union is envisaged through further agreed representation, subject to a memorandum of understanding between the union and federation.
