Eide connects Olympic media experience with civic leadership
The Norwegian official described relationships, communication and confidence in a leadership interview.
Source publication date:
Gro Eide discussed lessons from Olympic media work and local politics in a FIS Women Lead Sports interview. A Norwegian Ski Federation communications adviser and media manager since 2013, she had served as a press attaché at fifteen Olympic Games and was acting vice-mayor of Trondheim.
Eide described leadership as clear communication, strategic judgement and an ability to adapt when circumstances change. Her sporting experience reinforced the importance of recognising different strengths within a team, while civic responsibilities required her to consider the whole city beyond the preferences of her own political party.
The leadership programme encouraged her to build trusting relationships and seek honest feedback. She highlighted the value of acting when opportunities arise, connecting personal confidence with the practical responsibility to make decisions and explain their consequences.
