Emersons Green expands its coaching team for grassroots runners
Newly qualified coaches join a club that has grown to 220 members.
Source publication date:
Emersons Green Running Club described how its expanded coaching team supports a membership that has grown from thirteen to 220 since 2012. Seventeen run leaders and coaches share six weekly opportunities to lead groups across the club’s three training nights.
Members Josh and Martin recently completed Coach in Running Fitness qualifications. Josh said the course improved his confidence and technical understanding, helping him support grassroots runners making progress such as moving from a run-walk group into the main running group.
The club subsidises training costs and assigns responsibilities according to volunteers’ strengths, allowing people to lead smaller groups without also delivering announcements. Its activities extend to food-bank runs, litter collections and other community projects, linking the new coaching capacity with a wider local role.
