England Athletics introduces registration incentives for younger athletes
New age groups bring training support for parents and club volunteers.
Source publication date:
England Athletics outlined registration arrangements and incentives for younger athletes ahead of the affiliation year beginning in April. Under-twelve athletes will pay registration fees, while under-ten athletes should be recorded on the federation’s portal but payment will remain optional for that age group.
Registered families can receive an electronic pack and a free place for a parent or guardian on a Leading Athletics or officials’ course. Clubs will also receive a Coaching Assistant course voucher for each thirty registered under-ten or under-twelve athletes.
The incentives aim to increase volunteer capacity while supporting safeguarding records and participation data. The federation encouraged flexible local team competition for younger children, including its new funetics Multi-Challenge format, as the wider sport moves to even-numbered age groups from 1 April.
