England Athletics recruits four Athlete Panel members

England Athletics opened recruitment for four members of its Athlete Panel, inviting current or recently retired competitors to apply by 8 March. The panel was established in 2024 to bring athlete perspectives into decisions about competition, development pathways and the wider club environment.

Existing members have advised on championship delivery, age-group transitions and communications with competition partners. They have represented athletes at national events and worked on areas including para-athletics, university sport and grassroots participation, with an emphasis on retaining young people in the sport.

Panel members have also attended selection and funding meetings as independent observers, supporting greater transparency in those processes. The recruitment announcement invited applicants who wanted to improve the athlete experience and continue that work, alongside publication of the panel’s 2025 annual report.
