England U18s stay in League A after Croatia win
Two goals in two minutes secure the Young Lions’ qualifying progress.
Source publication date:
England's men's under-18s beat Croatia 2-0 in Križevci to advance in the new qualifying series for the 2027 UEFA U19 EURO. Ben Futcher's side completed their March programme with wins over Bulgaria and Croatia alongside a defeat against Spain.
The decisive spell arrived midway through the first half. A Nikolas Matić own goal put England ahead on the half-hour, and Crystal Palace's Dean Benamar doubled the advantage two minutes later. Croatia could not recover from that quick succession of goals.
England therefore remained in League A for the second qualifying round for next year's tournament in the Czech Republic. Bulgaria were relegated to League B. Futcher used four second-half substitutes as England protected the result.
