Diagonaal retains Estonian team chess title
Kaksikodad secured the combined club trophy in Tallinn.
Source publication date:
Diagonaal won the open section of the Estonian team championships for a second consecutive year. The event brought fourteen open teams and four women’s teams to the Paul Keres Chess House in Tallinn from 6 to 8 February.
Diagonaal and Tõnu Truusi Malekool each collected nine match points from ten. Diagonaal’s advantage of half a game point decided the title. Kaksikodad finished third in the open competition.
The women’s event ended with Vektor, Kaksikodad and Tallinna Maleklubi sharing first place on four match points from six. Kaksikodad’s results across both sections secured the overall club cup, a trophy introduced in 1991. The combined award recognises the club’s open and women’s performances together, rather than creating a separate individual championship.
