European Aquatics and INEFC sign research agreement
The four-year partnership begins with an artistic swimming apnea project.
Source publication date:
European Aquatics and Catalonia’s National Institute of Physical Education signed a four-year research agreement covering sports science and technology. An immediate priority is their artistic swimming apnea project, which examines breathing irregularities when athletes compete with the head below hip level.
The partnership will support joint research alongside technological development that could improve performance or equipment. Both organisations also plan practical projects, knowledge transfer, collaborative training and opportunities for staff exchanges, connecting research findings with coaching and sport administration.
Education forms another part of the agreement, including curriculum development for coaches, officials, athletes and national federation managers. The apnea work follows the introduction of a twenty-five-second limit for junior artistic swimmers in May 2025, making the topic relevant to current competition practice.
