European handball secretaries general review development plans in Lisbon
The fifteenth EHF conference examined grassroots work, competition systems and media priorities.
Source publication date:
The fifteenth EHF Conference for Secretaries General brought national federation officials to Lisbon for two days of discussions. The programme covered the Master Plan, Grassroots Charter, future club and national-team competitions, and promotion around the Women's EHF EURO 2026.
Secretary General Martin Hausleitner reviewed changes since the previous conference in March 2024. These included expanding youth EURO tournaments from sixteen to twenty-four teams, introducing consistent four-year national rankings, updating coach licensing and further digitalising anti-doping education.
Future priorities included a Nations League-style route for world championship qualification, beach handball development, women's handball and emerging nations. The conference concluded alongside the Men's EHF EURO 2028 qualifying draw and a media marketing workshop for the thirty-two federations involved in that competition.
