Ansgar Evensen won his first World Cup race in the men’s classic sprint in Drammen, finishing 0.31 seconds ahead of Czech skier Jiri Tuz. Norwegian Kristian Kollerud placed another three hundredths behind for a podium on his World Cup debut at his home venue.

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo had been eliminated in a semifinal collision involving Ben Ogden and Aron Aakre Rysstad. The overall leader fell heavily, then got up and left the course with medical assistance, removing the event’s established favourite from the final field.

Tuz also earned his first World Cup podium after a closely contested finish. Harald Oestberg Amundsen and Jules Chappaz placed fourth and fifth, while Anton Grahn fell on the final corner as damp conditions complicated racing on the street course.
