Fabbri and Verteramo win Italian indoor shot-put titles
The championship opening session crowned returning champions in Ancona.

Leonardo Fabbri won his twelfth Italian title and seventh indoors with 21.80 in Ancona’s opening national championship session. He reached the winning distance in the second round, matching his Nehvizdy result from two days earlier.
Nick Ponzio finished second with a seasonal best of 20.61 and Riccardo Ferrara third at 19.39. Fabbri’s series ended with 20.65 after three fouls, and he acknowledged fatigue after four competitions within eight days.
Sara Verteramo retained the women’s title with 16.31, repeating her success from the previous winter. FIDAL’s report presented the shot-put session as the opening programme of the national indoor championships, ahead of the broader weekend schedule at the PalaCasali.
