Fabbri throws 22.50 at Stellenbosch meeting
Three efforts beyond twenty-two metres completed the Italian’s South African training stay.

Leonardo Fabbri threw 22.50 in Stellenbosch, improving the season’s world-leading shot-put distance during an outdoor meeting in South Africa. The Italian’s series also contained 22.05 and 22.29, alongside 21.64 and two fouls.
The performance came four days after his 22.05 seasonal opening in Parow and marked the end of his warm-weather training period. FIDAL reported that it was his ninth competition with a result of at least 22.50 and his best-ever February distance.
Fabbri prepared to return to European competition with appearances in Liévin, Torun and Nehvizdy before the Italian indoor championships. The European champion described increased technical stability under coach Paolo Dal Soglio as he continued preparations for the World Indoor Championships.
