Leonardo Fabbri won the Nehvizdy shot put with 21.80, reaching his best distance in the fifth round. The Italian opened with 20.28, 20.44 and 21.05 before a fourth-round foul, then secured the winning performance ahead of a final invalid attempt.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi finished second at 21.20 and Rajindra Campbell third with 21.15. Scott Lincoln took fourth on 21.12, followed by Joe Kovacs and world silver medallist Uziel Muñoz in a strong international field.

FIDAL described the result as another positive step towards the World Indoor Championships in Torun. Fabbri was due to return to competition two days later at the Italian championships in Ancona, following several international appearances within a short February period.
