Faroe Islands recover to beat San Marino
The men’s team won 2-1 in its first black kit appearance.
Source publication date:
The Faroe Islands defeated San Marino 2-1 in a friendly after recovering from an early deficit. The national men’s team wore its black third-choice kit for the first time, with Jákup Biskopstø Andreasen and Árni Frederiksberg scoring the visiting side’s goals.
Nicolas Giacopetti put San Marino ahead during the first half. The Faroes controlled much of the play and equalised through Andreasen shortly before the interval, then maintained their approach after halftime until Frederiksberg supplied the winning goal after approximately an hour.
The result completed the team’s March assignment before a Baltic Cup programme in June. Estonia were scheduled as the opening opponents on 6 June, followed by either Latvia or Lithuania three days later. White and blue remained the Faroes’ first two kit choices.
