The Faroese federation clarified a change to Article 8, paragraph 2 of its competition rules for the 2026 season. The revision limited how many older substitutes from a higher-division squad could also play for a lower-division team on the same matchday.

At most three substitutes who had turned twenty-one before 1 January could move down to play. Whether those substitutes actually entered the higher-division match made no difference. Players under twenty-one remained outside the restriction, retaining the separate age-based exemption.

Previously, the complete higher-division bench could appear in a lower division, alongside eligible younger players. Under the revised rule, using more than three older players in this situation would constitute fielding ineligible players, giving clubs a specific new limit to manage.
