Faroese federation publishes football safeguarding policy
The guidelines particularly protect children and young people.
Source publication date:
The Faroese federation published a safeguarding policy intended to provide a safe and respectful football environment. Developed alongside the national sports confederation’s Tryggur Ítróttur initiative, the policy gave particular attention to children and young people from birth to eighteen.
The guidelines applied across roles, including players, coaches, referees and helpers involved in matches, competitions or other activities organised by the federation and its member clubs. They addressed the physical and psychological demands that can arise in competitive football settings.
The federation said participants should feel welcome and have opportunities to develop personally and through sport. Its announcement also directed clubs toward guidance on creating their own safety and welfare policies, extending the safeguarding work from national administration into local football organisations.
