Faroese under-19 women take Baltic Cup silver

The Faroe Islands women’s under-19 team finished second at the Baltic Cup in Latvia. The team played two matches at Skonto Olympic Hall in Riga, recovering from a 1-0 defeat to Lithuania with a 1-0 victory over the Latvian hosts.

Brá Zakariasardóttir scored the Faroese winner in the second fixture, securing three points and the silver position. Lithuania won both its games, including a 3-2 victory over Latvia, to take the tournament with six points while the hosts finished without a point.

The Faroese squad’s next challenge was European qualifying in Lithuania from 12 to 18 April. Its upcoming group also included Kosovo and Moldova, giving the team a further continental programme after completing the two-match Baltic Cup preparation event.
