FAW launches a year-long mentorship scheme for women coaches

The Football Association of Wales announced Coaching HER Forward, a twelve-month mentorship and development programme for women coaches. The initiative targets adults working between UEFA C and UEFA A Licence levels, with the aim of supporting their progression toward senior coaching and performance roles.

Participants would receive individual mentoring from experienced coaches and industry specialists, monthly development sessions and quarterly masterclasses. The programme also includes opportunities to observe training and matches, leadership support and access to a national network of women working in coaching.

The federation linked the project to building a stronger pathway between grassroots and elite football as the women's game expands. Its launch was planned for late spring, with delivery from September 2026 to August 2027 and ambitions to increase representation in senior and player-performance positions.
