Alex Ferreira won Olympic men’s freeski halfpipe gold in Livigno with 93.75 points on his final run. The American completed a set of Olympic medal colours after silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022.

Estonia’s Henry Sildaru took silver with 93 points, earning the country’s first medal of Milano Cortina. Canada’s Brendan Mackay won bronze with 91 points on the last run of the competition, moving ahead of American Nick Goepper.

Ferreira’s winning run included switch and regular double corks, a down-the-pipe double flatspin and two double 1620s. The decisive final round transformed a competition that began with relatively few clean runs into a close medal contest, with the top two separated by three-quarters of a point.
