FIDAL president Stefano Mei met the federation’s technical leadership in Rome to establish priorities for the 2026 athletics season. Technical director Antonio La Torre and his deputies joined the operational discussion on athlete preparation and national-team requirements.

The meeting considered the World Indoor Championships in Torun, the European Championships in Birmingham and youth competitions including the home European Under-18 Championships in Rieti. Officials reviewed leading athletes’ condition and the monitoring of individual preparation programmes.

Mei said the meeting would begin a monthly series supported by systematic reporting. The federation also emphasised developing younger athletes and improving communication between its central technical structure and regional organisations as preparations continued for the principal international events.
