FIDAL’s research centre published a new endurance training book by Renato Canova and Michele Zanini in the AtleticaStudi series. The 591-page volume examines the development, scientific principles and coaching methods of events from middle-distance running to the marathon.
Its 54 chapters are organised into three parts. The opening section traces two centuries of athletics through influential athletes and their scientific and social context. The second addresses endurance training methodology, physiology and the physical qualities required by different runners.
The final section provides preparation methods for individual distances and tools for daily coaching. Canova contributed the historical and training methodology material, while Zanini prepared the strength-training section with practical exercises. The book was announced at a price of 35 euros for coaches, researchers and interested readers.
