Fina throws personal best to win European Cup javelin bronze
Pietro Villa also improves his best as Italy earns several team podium finishes in Nicosia.

Michele Fina won javelin bronze at the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia with a personal best of 79.95m. He improved on the 77.23m he had thrown in 2023 and moved to tenth on Italy’s all-time list.
Germany’s Nick Thumm won with 81.05m, followed by Switzerland’s Simon Wieland at 80.76m. Giovanni Frattini finished seventh with a season best of 77.12m in the same senior competition.
Eighteen-year-old Pietro Villa placed fifth in the under-23 javelin with 73.37m, improving his previous best of 71.33m. That performance put him second on Italy’s under-20 list behind Frattini’s 73.78m. Italy finished third in the senior men’s, senior women’s and under-23 men’s team classifications.
