Finland beat Slovakia to take Olympic men’s hockey bronze

Finland secured the Olympic men’s hockey bronze medal with a 6–1 victory over Slovakia. The Finns responded to their narrow semi-final defeat by Canada with a committed performance that opened up during the third period at the Santagiulia arena.
Erik Haula scored twice and Joel Armia contributed a goal and two assists. Sebastian Aho, Roope Hintz and Kaapo Kakko also scored, while Juuse Saros made thirty saves. Slovakia captain Tomas Tatar supplied his team’s only goal.
Finland competed without injured forward Mikko Rantanen and earned its fifth medal in Olympics featuring NHL players. Slovakia finished fourth, falling short of repeating its bronze-medal achievement from Beijing despite having defeated Finland in the opening match of this tournament.
