FIS begins redesign of development coach education
An Oberhofen workshop opened work on a blended pathway for developing national associations.
Source publication date:
FIS launched work to reorganise its Development Coach Education pathway at an expert workshop in Oberhofen. The federation published the initiative in February after bringing international specialists and staff together on 27 and 28 January.
The planned approach would connect foundational online learning, an interdisciplinary in-person course, discipline-specific modules and mentored practice. Discussions considered how a shared education structure could support coaches in national ski associations with limited resources, building on existing development camps.
The workshop began the design process rather than introducing a completed qualification. FIS said the framework would evolve through collaboration and community feedback, with the aim of giving coaches a more continuous development route that they could follow in their home settings as well as internationally.
