FIS announced the death of Mathilde Grenet and described her contribution to safeguarding across snow sports. A former NCAA tennis player, she founded the consultancy En Garde and advised international and national sports organisations on protecting participants and improving their support systems.

Grenet was an IOC certified safeguarding officer and belonged to the Council of Europe’s pool of safe sport experts. She contributed to FIS’s first seminar linking snow sports and human rights in Portorož in May 2024.

Her practical work included educating team leaders at Junior World Championships and serving as a FIS safeguarding officer. She also developed the FIS Safe Event Toolkit with En Garde in early 2024, providing organisers with guidance for implementing the federation’s safeguarding policy.
