FISU president Leonz Eder and Xinhua president Fu Hua signed a memorandum of understanding in Lausanne on 25 February. The agreement reinforced cooperation on coverage of university sport in China and internationally following a meeting at the federation’s headquarters.

The Xinhua delegation met FISU sporting and communications leaders at the Synathlon building on the University of Lausanne campus. Discussions addressed future plans and the role of accurate, professional reporting in bringing university competitions to wider audiences.

Fu Hua noted that Xinhua’s coverage of the World University Games dated to 1957. The organisations also looked ahead to the Changchun Winter Universiade in January 2027, providing a forthcoming international event around which their media collaboration could continue.
