FISU’s Executive Committee met in Changchun and confirmed the return of the Universiade name. President Leonz Eder announced that he intended to end his university-sport career in 2027, rather than leaving office immediately.

The committee reviewed the proposed 2031 strategy, organised around sporting events, education, student wellbeing, and resources and sustainability. The plan still required consultation with national university sports federations and approval by the General Assembly.

A draft statutes update was also validated for consultation, with adoption envisaged in 2027. Cross-country running was approved for the Changchun Winter Universiade programme. The report distinguished approved programme and branding decisions from strategy and statutes proposals that remained subject to further approval.
