FISU contributes to UNITAR sustainable sport diploma
The opening module in Riyadh examined the societal impact of major sporting events.
Source publication date:
FISU helped design and deliver the opening module of UNITAR’s Executive Diploma in Sustainable Sport in Riyadh. The programme ran from 1 to 5 February and examined how major sporting events could create lasting social, economic and environmental outcomes.
The federation contributed to the module on the societal impact of mega-events, facilitated by strategic-development specialist Andreas Csonka. Participants considered early legacy planning, access and the distribution of benefits after a competition’s closing ceremony.
FISU connected the collaboration to its current strategy and the development of its next strategic plan. Its report emphasised that event sustainability required leadership decisions from the start of planning, together with institutional capacity and arrangements that continued to serve host communities afterwards.
