Source publication date:
Five European under-eighteen zonal volleyball championships produced direct qualifiers for the corresponding continental finals. Bulgaria won the Balkan men’s title, Hungary and Slovenia took the Middle European women’s and men’s honours, and Spain and Italy won the Western European men’s and women’s competitions respectively.
Four of those winning national federations receive FIVB Volleyball Empowerment support. Bulgaria defeated Serbia 3–1 in the final in Podgorica, while Hungary recovered from two sets down to beat host Croatia 3–2 for the women’s title in Zadar.
Slovenia won all four matches without dropping a set in Maribor, defeating Czechia in the final. Spain finished unbeaten with five wins in Viana do Castelo, where sixteen-year-old Natxo Larranaga Prats received the most-valuable-player award.
