Five members of Irish athletics clubs were named recipients of the 2025 Volunteers in Sport Awards. The Federation of Irish Sport selected Tom Loughnane, Ger Redmond, Patrick Finnerty, Adrian Curley and John Joe Doyle among 36 honourees from across Ireland.
Their clubs were St Cronan’s AC, Coolock Running Club, Cabinteely AC, Tullamore Harriers and DMP AC. The awards ceremony was scheduled for 26 February at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown, with sport minister Charlie McConalogue delivering the keynote address.
The programme was supported by Sport Ireland’s network of 29 Local Sports Partnerships. Organisers reported record nominations across more than 49 sporting disciplines, recognising the unpaid work that keeps local clubs and participation programmes operating.
