France completes home double at university handball worlds
The women beat the Netherlands and the men edged Brazil in Pessac.

France won both university handball titles at home in Pessac on 27 June. The women defeated the Netherlands 42–28 after leading by three at halftime, turning their advantage into a decisive final victory.
The men’s final was much closer: France beat Brazil 35–34. Brazil had previously lost 32–28 to the hosts in the group stage but returned to contest gold after winning its other matches.
Czechia took women’s bronze with a 26–22 win against Poland, while Spain beat Poland 32–28 in the men’s bronze match. French players Ilan Lagarde and goalkeeper Graciel Quere also received individual awards.
