Perrot anchored a recovery from twentieth as Norway and Sweden completed the podium.
Source publication date:
France won its first Olympic men’s four-by-7.5-kilometre biathlon relay title in 1:19:55.2. Fabien Claude, Émilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon Maillet and Éric Perrot finished 9.8 seconds ahead of Norway, while Sweden took bronze, 57.6 seconds back.
An opening-leg standing penalty left France twentieth before Claude recovered some positions. Jacquelin then regained more than fifty seconds on the second leg, bringing the team back into the leading contest despite a driving snowstorm.
Perrot began the anchor leg level with Norway and Sweden before securing gold. France finished with one penalty loop and nine spare rounds. Germany placed fourth, the United States fifth and Czechia sixth in the twenty-team Olympic relay field.
