Margie Freed described how she approached pressure on the final leg of a mixed relay in a new IBU interview. The American said she concentrated on smooth skiing and hitting targets, rather than dwelling on the possible finishing position while racing alongside experienced World Cup rivals.

A former high-school and collegiate cross-country skier, Freed began World Cup biathlon competition in the 2023/24 season. She subsequently qualified for the Milano Cortina Olympics, where one shooting penalty accompanied a career-best twenty-first place in the fifteen-kilometre individual event.

After five months in Europe, she planned to reconnect with friends and return to classic skiing at home. Her reflections stressed enjoying the sport and remaining herself during the demands of competition.
