Freitas and Lind upset leading seeds in Montreux

Marcos Freitas defeated top seed Truls Moregardh 3–1 during the men’s last-sixteen programme at the Europe Top 16 Cup. Anders Lind also eliminated a decorated opponent, beating five-time champion Dimitrij Ovtcharov in straight games as the main draw began in Montreux.
Benedikt Duda saved a match point before defeating Anton Kallberg in five games, winning the decider 15–13. Qualifier Tomislav Pucar similarly went the distance against Dang Qiu, taking the final game 12–10.
Darko Jorgic recovered from losing the opening game against Jonathan Groth to win 3–1. Felix Lebrun defeated Alvaro Robles in straight games, while Simon Gauzy overcame Patrick Franziska to join the quarterfinal field.
