Marcos Freitas discussed plans to expand his tournament schedule after physical problems had limited recent appearances. In an ETTU interview, the Portuguese player said his improving condition supported renewed efforts to raise his world ranking while maintaining longer-term Olympic ambitions.

Freitas reflected on his 2014 Europe Top 12 title in Lausanne as he prepared for a twelfth appearance at the renamed event. His record also included two other finals, a third-place finish and a semifinal in 2024.

He described adapting to faster table tennis and younger opponents through continued practice and small technical changes. The Olympic Games remained his leading future objective, alongside performances at the European Championships, World Championships and Europe Top 16.
