The world long-jump champion joined the announced field for the June Diamond League meeting.
Source publication date:
Golden Gala organisers confirmed Mattia Furlani for the meeting at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on 4 June. The announcement made the long-jump champion the second prominent Italian name confirmed for the 2026 edition, after Nadia Battocletti in the 5000 metres.
Furlani was set for a second consecutive Golden Gala appearance after finishing runner-up in 2025. That season also brought him the world indoor title in Nanjing, the outdoor title in Tokyo and second place at the Diamond League final in Zurich.
Rome already formed part of his international medal history through European silver in 2024. His confirmed June entry concerned the forthcoming Diamond League meeting and preparations for the European Championships; it did not establish his eventual competition result.
