Giuliano Fux won the men’s slalom at the Junior World Championships in Narvik, recovering from eighth after the first run. His second descent of 51.26 seconds produced a combined 1:43.63, defeating Freddy Carrick-Smith by 0.33 seconds and Maximilien Hoder by 0.45 in the championship’s final race.

Luca Carrick-Smith had led the opening run by 1.25 seconds over his younger brother. He appeared set to challenge Fux before straddling a gate, leaving Freddy with silver and Hoder as the United States’ first individual male medallist of the championships.

Fux added gold to his earlier team parallel bronze. Switzerland also won the Marc Hodler Trophy with ninety-one points, ahead of the United States on sixty-three and France on fifty-seven.
